I was born in suburban Atlanta, Georgia. After high school, I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in early childhood education from Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Georgia, where I became a certified elementary school teacher. After one year of working in an elementary school as an instructional aide in Dekalb County, Georgia, I married and moved to California for one year, where I worked as an instructional aide in kindergarten. Then I taught for three years at the elementary school level in Lakewood Public Schools in NJ. I took several years off from employment to be at home with my daughter. During those years, I also took courses at Georgian Court University in Lakewood, NJ and became a certified special education teacher. I continued taking courses until I had completed a Master of Arts degree in special education with an emphasis in learning disabilities. I worked as an instructional aide and special education teacher for four years in New Jersey before moving to Maryland. I began teaching in Howard County Public Schools in 2002 at Pointers Run Elementary in Clarksville, MD. I am very pleased to work with a wonderful team of teachers and support personnel at Pointers Run!
